National Women's Health and Fitness Day

If you are like me you are overwhelmed by the number of Nationally recognized days there are. Each day we are recognizing or celebrating something else. Today we are recognizing something that I strive to recognize every day! Women's Health and Fitness Day. Many years ago I decided that I wanted to live the healthiest life style I could live. Health and Fitness became a huge priority to me. Each day I aim to eat healthy real foods and do atleast 20-30 minutes of physical activity.

Typically my workouts for the week right now consist of three 4-6 mile runs plus two 75 minute yoga classes each week. I also include any walking I do to and from work  as physical activity plus and and all house work I do while I am around the house. Housework is certainly physical activity.  Especially when there is a toddler involved that you need to keep up with. When I first made it a goal to get moving I bought an UP Band. If you are not familiar with UP it is an activity tracker designed by Jawbone. I loved it I wore it everywhere. I love tracking how many steps I walked each day and I also loved seeing how much I slept each night. Many people have reported and increase in activity while wearing a fitness tracker so this may be the motivation you need to start a more physically fit life.

I also found it really helpful to invest in some active gear. If you are working out in your husbands old tee-shirts and sweats you are not going to feel like the rock star that you are. Get yourself out to the mall or hop online and find some active wear that you are going to feel comfortable in. Being a long distance runner I know the importance of quality active gear. I know how terribly wrong a workout can go in the wrong sports bra! Get yourself some quality sports bras.

Adore Me has come out with a brand new line of Women's Fitness Clothing. You can view their entire collection here. I am in love with it and it launches on October 2nd. I love finding a new brand of active gear I can feel comfortable in while running or doing yoga. I have tried many different brand and its extremely important to have a tried a true company I can rely on to keep coming out with new high quality active gear without breaking the bank. Yes I want to look good and feel good but no I do not feel comfortable buying a pair of yoga pants for $100. I really like the affordability of the new Adore Me active wear line. Im excited to try it out soon.

What have you found to be your fav running clothes or yoga pants?

If you are in love with this line as much as I am you can use my coupon code GETACTIVE10 to purchase your new workout gear today.

I did it, it's over and I feel fine!

Sunday was an amazing day that I will always remember! The week leading up to race was a rainy mess. We had threats of a hurricane hitting the coast and we were preparing for the worst. My biggest fear was that weather was going to cause the race to be canceled. The show went on and we had no rain on race day. The temps were cool and the sky was overcast as we pulled up to the race. The Blues Cruise 50K Trail Run accepts 400 runners, the event had nearly reached its capacity as the runners were gathering around the Day Use Pavilion at Blue Marsh anxiously awaiting the 8:30 AM start. I felt great. I was confident in my training but still a little nervous about running my longest distance to date. My goal for the day was to finish. My desired time for the race changed a number of times from when I first signed up for the event. My unrealistic expectation were dismissed while training when I realized how slow my pace got the further I was running on the trails. I was so grateful ...

What to Pack for a Ragnar Trail Relay?

Months ago when we decided to sign up for the Ragnar Trail Relay in West Virginia I started a list on my phone of what I wanted to pack. I have been known for being a list maker. Thankfully I am not alone in my list making when more than half of my team has an Engineering background it turns out we are all pretty listy. Our one team member even set up a google doc of what to pack so that we can all edit it. I know I'm a nerd but I love being prepared and I love being organized. I started packing over the weekend when I knew I wouldn't be wearing most of my running clothes until race day. For the Relay I will be running 3 times so I made sure to pack three complete running outfits. I found a really helpful tip online to place each outfit in a gallon ziplock bag so I wont have to be searching for everything in the middle of the night or while someone else may be sleeping. The event will be all day and all night so I needed to make sure I packed a headlamp and extra batteries. I...

Resolute. Renew. Reinvent.

I admit it I love making resolutions for the new year. I also really love keeping them. Id like to think that I place realistic expectations on myself when I set resolutions and or goals. Yesterday while I was out on my run I was thinking of writing this post. I have been seeing so much about New Years Resolution and how many people have such a hard time sticking to them. I find being in an accountability group of sorts is extremely helpful. I am in several group on Facebook that help motivate and keep me accountable towards my fitness goals. Please join our group eat run bake blog on Facebook. There you can find the motivation you need to eat healthy and get fit while having fun and bouncing ideas that work off other like minded people. If your goal is to excel in your career this year and perhaps find financial freedom please join us in Spark Your Rockstar group in Facebook. Spark your Rockstar is a community made by Carolyn Rim. Carolyn helped me spark the idea of this website....
