What to do what to do!

As winter and the Holidays are quickly approaching I am trying to plan a bit of a break from my running. Im sure my idea of a running break is not the same as some others. I will still run 3 or 4 times a week but I will not really be running much more then 10 miles on my long run day. I think it is important to give our bodies a rest.



 I'm really hoping this will give me more time for my yoga practice. My girlfriend Faith is back from Spain and is teaching local classes again. I am so grateful. Yoga is such an awesome way to cross train and the emotional benefits I get from the practice is very similar to the emotional benefits I get from a long run.


I wanted to share a few picture from our kayak tour last week. My buddy Mike was kind enough to let us all get out on the river after work last Friday. We had a great time.

What to Pack for a Ragnar Trail Relay?

Months ago when we decided to sign up for the Ragnar Trail Relay in West Virginia I started a list on my phone of what I wanted to pack. I have been known for being a list maker. Healthy Body = Healthy Mind

I have been an a quest for Health & Wellness for many years now. I started thinking more about my health as I was getting closer to my 30s. I had been clean off drugs and alcohol for many years which was a huge plus, but I knew there was more that needed to be done. I quit smoking before my 28th birthday. That single action made me realize how much more I wanted to do for myself. Soon after I quit smoking, I started walking then I started running. Running was not always my passion it was very tough at first and I will admit that I did not love it right away. It took me some time to build a strong pace that I felt comfortable breathing with. I also did yoga on and off for many years and always loved that practice. When my girlfriend did her 200 Hour Yoga teacher training my practice got more intense and I was peaceful. No Lunch Run for Me

Yesterday I was unable to run during my lunch break. My first reaction was self pity but then I quickly had to realize my little girl and her health are far more important. My daughter has been sick on and off for a few weeks and her breathing was very labored and I knew she had to go back to the doctor. Thankfully I was able to get her an appointment that day but it meant leaving work for a few hours and missing my lunch hour. When I start a training plan I tend to get a little obsessive about sticking to as much as I can. I don't know when I became such a rule follower. I have a good friend that I get to work with each day and he came to my rescue yesterday and put me in my place and out of my pity party. Thank you. I need to remember that things are going to change and everything can not always go as planned. When I have acceptance my life is far more serene.
